11 Foot Jon Boat to Bass Boat FULL MODIFICATION!!!

I took my new 11.5′ Jon boat and did a full modification to turn it into a mini bass boat!! The main goals were to increase storage and implement 2 improved casting decks while keeping the weight down at the same time. I used aluminum to frame both decks, which kept weight down tremendously over your typical 2x4s.

I ended up with 5 different storage compartments, and added a recessed trolling motor foot pedal tray and gas struts as bonus features. I didn’t add a live well or rod locker, since I don’t ever plan to use this boat for any tournament purposes, but both would be possible with future upgrades if necessary. I used rivets to connect all aluminum framing and the rubbermaid tub to the frame, and used building “teks” to attach the plywood deck to the aluminum. Plywood used for the decks was 1/2″, all water sealed, and 9/32″ was used to separate the compartments. Outdoor carpet was added to all decking, including the divider pieces.

All in all, I’m EXTREMELY happy with the result! I haven’t taken it on the water yet, but I think its very likely that it will be …
